at Jesse Owens Classic

Sophomore Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), freshman Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian), and sophomore Phoebe Dreschel (Castalia/Margaretta) recorded top-20 finishes for Ohio Wesleyan during the first day of the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by The Ohio State University on Friday in Columbus.

The meet was not scored.

Jolliff finished 15th in the javelin with a throw of 112-8.

Ward was 17th in the 5000-meter run in 17:43.93

Dreschel placed 17th in the javelin with a mark of 107-3.

Also representing the Bishops were freshman Allison Dietz (Newark), who was 29th in the 5000-meter run; and sophomore McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), who finished 44th in the 1500-meter run.

The Jesse Owens Classic is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
