Freshman attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) scored 4 second-half goals for Ohio Wesleyan as the Bishops ran away with a non-conference win over Albion on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
Albion got on the board first with a goal from Keegan Pastor but the Bishops immediately came back with 2 quick goals from junior midfielder Joey Weisman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and freshman midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si). Beckstrom added a goal and sophomore midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored an unassisted goal at 0:03 to make the score 4-2 heading into the second.
Freshman attacker Cole Tulgestke (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) scored one to start the second and senior midfielder Ben Buroker (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School) added one to close the half for Ohio Wesleyan with Albion netting two in the middle, making the score 6-4.
The Britons kept it close in the third quarter, starting the scoring and then matching the 3 goals from the Bishops. Junior midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy), junior attacker Carson Geier (Milford), and Beckstrom all added goals, with Hunt notching 2 to keep the advantage.
Sophomore midfielder Noah Citek (Long Beach, Calif./St. John Bosco) scored in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and Beckstrom added 3 more goals as Ohio Wesleyan stretched its lead to 14-8 in the fourth period. Junior midfielder Malik Sillah (Bethesda, Md./Montgomery) scored one final goal for the Bishops to end the game.
The Bishops outshot the Britons, 69-36. Beckstrom led the Bishops with 5 goals and an assist, while Hunt scored 2 goals. Senior Paddy Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) held it down in the Bishop crease, finishing with 14 saves.
