Freshman Connor Smith (Marysville), junior Trey Theobald (Archbold), and sophomore Benjamin Blaumeiser (Kettering/Fairmont) won events and Theobald set a school record for Ohio Wesleyan at the Big Red Invitational, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.
The meet was not scored.
Smith won the 100-meter dash in :11.05 and finished second in the high jump and third in the 200-meter dash.
Theobald won the javelin with a throw of 193-11. The throw bettered the school record of 193-2 set by Aaron Port in 2016.
Blaumeiser won the 800-meter run in 1:55.91.
Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who finished second in the long jump, fourth in the 100-meter dash, and eighth in the high jump; freshman Alex Stoller (Waverly), who was second in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Chinedu Melenu (Bowie, Md.), who placed second in the triple jump and seventh in the 400-meter hurdles; senior Antonio Sonego (Medina), who was second in the discus; freshman Dylan Harper (Marysville), who placed second in the 110-meter hurdles; freshman Alex Bzdafka (Solon), who was second in the pole vault; freshman Elias Simpkins (Sergeantsville, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional), who placed second in the 100-meter dash; freshman Jayson Dyer (Kenton), who finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the javelin; junior Thurman Hou (Temple City, Calif./La Salle College Preparatory), who was third in the triple jump and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles; junior Wes Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington), who finished third in the 1500-meter run; junior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale), who placed fourth in the long jump and seventh in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Jake Marzulli (Medina), who finished fourth in the 400-meter dash; freshman Lucas Weaver (Galion/Northmor), who was fourth in the 1500-meter run; junior Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales), who finished fifth in the 1500-meter run; sophomore Xavier Platt (Fredericktown), who placed sixth in the 800-meter run; junior Logan McSwords (Marysville), who was seventh in the javelin; freshman David Horton (Columbus/Thomas Worthington), who finished eighth in the 1500-meter run; sophomore Griffin Sawyer (Rocky River), who placed eighth in the pole vault; and freshman Haden Kirkham (Granville), who was eighth in the 3000-meter run.
The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of Leck, Weaver, freshman Perry Jackson (Springfield/New Carlisle Tecumseh), and David Horton finished third.
