Denison 10, Ohio Wesleyan 8

Freshman attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) had 4 goals, with a final push goal in the fourth quarter, but the Bishops were unable to catch up after a 6-0 Denison run in the third quarter and the Big Red won a battle of North Coast Atlantic Conference unbeatens on Saturday at Selby Stadium.
With the win, Denison takes the NCAC championship and the No. 1 seed in next week's NCAC tournament. Ohio Wesleyan will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will face third-seeded Kenyon at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Selby Stadium.
Beckstrom opened the scoring but Denison's Tommy Quinston, Nate Kay, and Luke Fischer came back with goals in a span of less than 90 seconds to give the Big Red the advantage.
Junior midfielder Joey Weisman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and freshman midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) scored back-to-back goals during the final minute of the period to even the score at 3 going into the second quarter.
The Bishops outscored the Big Red in the second, 2-1, with goals coming from Beckstrom midway through the quarter and junior attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) during the final minute of the period to give Ohio Wesleyan a 5-4 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Denison held the Bishops scoreless on their 6-goal run until the final :13, when Beckstrom was able to get a man-up goal assisted by Ross.
With fifteen minutes to play, the Bishops were searching for a comeback down 10-6. Wiseman and Beckstrom each secured a goal to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 10-8, but the Bishops were unable to come closer. A forced turnover gave Ohio Wesleyan a final attempt with the ball, but both shots missed the back of the net, giving Denison the win.
Beckstrom led the Bishops with 4 goals, Wiseman had 2, and Amacher and Ross each scored once. Junior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) made 13 saves between the pipes.
