Senior third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) launched a bases-clearing double to drive home what proved to be the deciding runs in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday in Oberlin.

In the nightcap, freshman outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) and junior outfielder Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen) knocked in 2 runs apiece as the Bishops completed the sweep.

Ohio Wesleyan led, 6-4, in the opener, when the Bishops loaded the bases on singles by senior outfielder Rylie Moore (Noblesville, Ind.), junior shortstop McKenna Tuttle (Richmond, Ky./Model Laboratory School), and senior catcher Sara Bias (Sandusky/St. Mary's Central Catholic) before Back doubled to center to score all 3 runners and extend the lead to 9-4.

Oberlin rallied in the bottom of the inning with the help of an RBI double by Haley Carlson, but junior righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) came on in relief and got out of the inning without any further damage.

Senior shortstop Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman) and Back had RBI singles and Bias doubled in a run during Ohio Wesleyan's 4-run second inning, Bias drew a bases-loaded walk in the third, and Vanden Eynden singled, stole second, moved to third on an infield out, and scored on an infield out off the bat of senior second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley) to make it 6-4.

Moore went 4-for-4, tying the Bishop mark for hits in a game.  Back was 3-for-5 with 4 RBI, and Bias went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.  Senior lefthander Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood) worked 4.2 innings, striking out 1 and walking 3, to record the win, and Rodriguez blanked the Yeowomen on 2 hits over the final 2.1 innings to collect a save.

The Bishops struck for 3 runs in the top of the first inning of the nightcap, getting an RBI double from junior first baseman Sophie Leohner (Columbus/Upper Arlington), then added 2 more runs in the second with Panozzo contributing a sacrifice fly.

Ohio Wesleyan added 2 runs in the fourth on run-scoring doubles by Vanden Eynden and Panozzo, Cegledy plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Anspach and Vanden Eynden singled in runs in the seventh.

Vanden Eynden was 4-for-5, tying the Bishop mark for hits in a game, while Bias was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.  Sophomore righthander Makenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington) pitched the first 5-plus innings for the Bishops and received the win, and Rodriguez finished up for a save.
