Box Score
Denison 14, Ohio Wesleyan 7

Senior attacker Nicole Klabus (Delaware/Hayes) scored to tie the game at 2, but Denison outscored the Bishops, 5-1, during the second period and went on to a win in a matchup of North Coast Atlantic Conference unbeatens on Saturday in Granville.

With the win, Denison takes the NCAC championship and the No. 1 seed in next week's NCAC tournament.  Ohio Wesleyan will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will face third-seeded Kenyon at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Denison's Merrill Rollhaus gave the Big Red an early lead, but senior midfielder Sophia DelGallo (Braintree, Mass.) evened the game midway through the first quarter.  Denison's Mary Martinson scored with :43 left in the period to put the Big Red up again, but Klabus answered with a goal just 9 seconds later to knot the game at 2.

Anna DeVuono and Josie Lucchesi scored in the opening minute of the second quarter to give the lead back to the Big Red, but junior attacker Caroline Fleming (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) brought the Bishops within 4-3 at the 10:54 mark of the quarter.  DeVuono countered with a goal just :28 later, and Denison would hold the Bishops scoreless during the rest of the period while getting goals from Maddie Morrell and Rollhaus to take a 7-3 lead at the intermission.

The Big Red pulled away with goals from Morrell, Bridget Sheehy, Lucchesi, and Jane Lukens to extend the lead to 11-3 midway through the third quarter.

Junior midfielder Lindsay Wolverton (Delaware/Hayes) and DelGallo scored goals during the waning minutes of the third period, but that 6-goal margin was as close as the Bishops would come.

DelGallo led the Bishops with 3 goals, while Fleming added 2.  Junior Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) made 6 saves in the game.

Sophomore midfielder Abbie Grogan (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) collected 2 ground balls, raising her season total to 58 to break the single-season (2007-present) mark of 56 set by Stephanie DeSoto in 2019.
