Strange Wins All-NCAC Honors in Decathlon

Freshman Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in the decathlon during the second day of the NCAC combined events meet, hosted by Oberlin College on Sunday in Oberlin.

Strange finished third with a total of 5903 points.  Jacob Brown of Denison won the conference championship with 6504 points.

Sophomore Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) also represented the Bishops, finishing seventh with 4794 points.

Strange opened Sunday by collecting 620 points in the 110-meter hurdles, his highest individual event score of the day.  Strange finished second in the discus with a throw of 110-9, good for 479 points; added 457 in the pole vault by clearing 11-1¾; finished third in the javelin with a throw of 139-0 to add 477 more points, and placed fourth in the 1500-meter run for 499 points.

Fincham had the third-best time in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a :16.36 to rack up 693 points, added 308 points in the discus with a throw of 71-11, tied for third in the pole vault by clearing 12-9½ to score 590 points, scored 348 points with a throw of 109-9 in the javelin, and added 335 points in the 1500-meter run.

The 8 points scored by Strange and Fincham will carry over to the NCAC championship meet, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
