Junior first baseman Sophie Leohner (Columbus/Upper Arlington) drove in runs that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 2-1 lead, but Baldwin Wallace rallied for 3 runs in the top of the seventh to take the opener of a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday at Margaret Sagan Field.

In the nightcap, freshman outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes) singled home a run to even the game at 9 in the bottom of the sixth, but the Yellow Jackets scored twice in the top of the seventh to complete the sweep.

The Yellow Jackets loaded the bases in the top of the first inning on a one-out single by Lexy Coggins, a walk to Maddie Lester, and a single by Lucia Wolford, and took the lead when Bridie Bricker plated Coggins with an infield out.

Ohio Wesleyan answered in the bottom of the inning when senior third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) led off with a walk, moved to second on an infield out, took third on a single by senior second baseman Sophia Cegledy (Pataskala/Bishop Hartley), and scored on Leohner's bases-loaded walk.

In the third, freshman outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) led off with an infield single, moved to second on a sacrifice, took third on an infield out, and scored on Leonher's single up the middle.

Meanwhile, senior lefthander Katie Chittum (Hebron/Lakewood) was keeping the visitors off the scoreboard, allowing only one runner as far as third base during the second through sixth innings.

In the seventh, Courtney Stewart singled down the rightfield line and Emily Mau beat out a bunt single to put the go-ahead run on base.  After the runners moved up on an infield out, Lester sent a triple to right center to score both runs, and Wolford followed with a double to center to make it 4-2.

Vanden Eynden was 3-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Chittum was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap on a sacrifice fly by junior outfielder Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen) and a bases-loaded walk to senior shortstop Rylee Anspach (Dublin/Coffman).

The Yellow Jackets answered by collecting 3 hits and 5 walks during the second inning to put 6 runs on the board, but the Bishops rallied with a 2-run triple by Gist during a 3-run third, then got a 2-run single from junior shortstop McKenna Tuttle (Richmond, Ky./Model Laboratory School) during a 3-run fourth that gave the Bishops an 8-6 lead.

Baldwin Wallace turned 4 errors into a pair of runs to tie the game in the fifth and added an RBI double by Lester in the sixth.

The Bishops pulled even in the bottom of the inning as Leohner led off with a walk and senior catcher Sophia Holupka (Hillsboro, Mo.), in to pinch-run, moved to second on a sacrifice before scoring on Gist's single down the rightfield line.

The visitors opened the top of the seventh with singles by Macaira Fox and Steph Mraz, and one out later, filled the bases on a walk to Coggins before Lester singled up the middle to score 2 runs.

Vanden Eynden went 4-for-5, tying the school record for hits in a game, and Gist was 2-for-2 with 3 RBI.  Junior righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) was the losing pitcher in relief.
