Freshman attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) scored to kick off an 11-1 second-half run and added 3 consecutive goals to open the fourth quarter as Ohio Wesleyan pulled away for a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wabash on Tuesday in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Junior attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) scored to break a 1-1 tie and freshman midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) followed with a goal -- both off feeds from Beckstrom -- as the Bishops took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, and after the Little Giants closed to within 3-2 on a Sam Santiago score in the second period, Ross responded with a goal just under a minute later. Junior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) and Beckstrom added goals for a 6-3 Bishop lead late in the first half.
Beckstrom scored midway through the third quarter and sophomore midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) had 2 goals as Ohio Wesleyan outscored the hosts, 4-0, during the period, and Beckstrom opened the fourth quarter with 3 goals in a span of 1:19 to extend the margin to 13-3.
Beckstrom led the Bishops with 5 goals and 3 assists. Ross added 2 goals and an assist, and Smith scored twice. Junior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) recorded 4 saves during the first 55-plus minutes and senior Paddy Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) finished up in the Bishop crease.
