at NCAC championship
Junior Trey Theobald (Archbold) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors and broke a school record during the first day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.
Denison and Wittenberg were tied for atop the standings with 48 points apiece. Wabash was in third place with 39 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (32), Wooster (29), DePauw (28), Kenyon (25), Oberlin (24), and Hiram (0).
Theobald finished second in the javelin with a throw of 199-9, breaking the school record of 193-11 he set last week.
All-NCAC honors also went to freshman Alex Bzdafka (Solon), who finished second in the pole vault.
Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Antonio Sonego (Medina), who was fifth in the discus; sophomore Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge), who placed seventh in the pole vault; sophomore Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who finished eighth in the long jump; and junior Coleman Kegler (Columbus/Upper Arlington), who was eighth in the javelin.
The NCAC championship meet is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
