Christopher Newport's Maddison Steele scored a pair of first-quarter goals to start the sixth-ranked Captains on their way to a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Friday in Newport News, Va.

Steele put CNU on the scoreboard at the 1:46 mark of the game, with Delaney Norr credited with an assist on the play.

Steele struck again just under 5 minutes into the contest, extending the Christopher Newport lead to 2-0.

Senior defender Gabi Dahllof (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) kept the game at 2-0 with a stop of a shot by CNU's Mortan Shealer in the 10th minute.  Senior Meg McCarthy (Trumbull, Conn.) followed with a save seconds later to turn aside another scoring chance.

Norr added goals midway through the second quarter and midway through the fourth quarter to account for the 4-0 final.

Christopher Newport outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 28-4.  McCarthy stopped 6 shots during the first half and senior Brynn Schlesinger (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) had 4 saves during the second half.
