York's Kelbie Linebaugh tallied a goal midway through the first quarter to start the ninth-ranked Spartans on their way to a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Newport News, Va.

Linebaugh scored an unassisted goal at the 7:54 mark to put York ahead.

Senior defender Gabi Dahllof (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) kept the game at 1-0 with a stop of a shot by York's Libby Wild after a Spartan penalty corner.  Dahllof would record another defensive save in the opening minutes of the third quarter to keep the Bishops close.

The Spartans increased the margin to 2-0 midway through the third quarter when Bella Reiss scored after a penalty corner, with Wild credited with an assist on the play.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened later in the period, earning a penalty corner with 2:43 remaining, but a shot by sophomore midfielder Grace Ammon (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) was blocked.  The Bishops earned another corner, but Ammon had shots saved first by Wild and then by Spartan keeper Belle Fields.

York outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 21-4.  Senior Brynn Schlesinger (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) went the distance in the Bishop goal, making 7 saves.
