Junior midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) scored at the 6:02 mark of the first overtime period to give Ohio Wesleyan a win over Kenyon in the Bishops' North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday in Gambier.

Ohio Wesleyan had earned a penalty corner, and Markell inserted the ball to sophomore midfielder Grace Ammon (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional).  Ammon fired a shot that sophomore forward Mattison Hyland (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) deflected past Owl goalkeeper Megan Lydon, and Markell knocked the loose ball into the cage for the game-winner.

The Bishops had taken a 1-0 lead when Ammon scored off an assist from sophomore forward Annabel Fauver (Hudson) with 1:09 left in the first half.

Sophomore forward Brogan Heilig (Monroeville, N.J./Saint Joseph Academy) increased the margin to 2-0 with an unassisted goal early in the third quarter.

Kenyon evened the score with a pair of goals later in the period, first with a score by Maren Lawrence midway through the quarter and then with a score by Raigan with 4:14 to play in the period.

Ohio Wesleyan enjoyed an 8-0 advantage in shots during the fourth quarter, but Lydon turned away 4 Bishop shots during the period, including a pair during the final minute of regulation time.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Kenyon, 32-5.  Senior Brynn Schlesinger (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) went the distance in the Bishop goal, recording 2 saves.
