Ohio Wesleyan 78, Wooster 38

Sophomore post Macy Miller (Marysville/Milford Center Fairbanks) scored 8 points and fifth-year guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) tallied 4 points during a game-opening 14-0 run, and fifth-year point guard Elizabeth Homan (Cincinnati/Anderson) set Ohio Wesleyan and North Coast Athletic Conference records in an NCAC win over Wooster on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Schipfer put the Bishops ahead on the opening possession of the game, and
senior post Karlee Ross (Beverly/Fort Frye) and Miller scored off Fighting Scot turnovers to make it 6-0 less than a minute into the action.  Miller added 3 more buckets, the last of which increased the margin to 14-0 with 4:23 remaining in the first quarter.

Wooster closed to within 14-6 as Mackenzie Riccitelli scored on a fast break, Ella Dean sank 2 free throws, and Ella Biondi scored on a putback, but a Homan lay-in ended that Wooster run, and the Bishops would lead by an 18-8 count after the first period.

It was still a 10-point game after a Riccitelli lay-in early in the second quarter, but Ohio Wesleyan reeled off the next 11 points, highlighted by a Homan 3-pointer, and a lay-in by freshman guard Claire Wakim (Madison) stretched the Bishop lead to 33-12 midway through the quarter.

The visitors opened the second half with an Erica Beaty lay-in to pull within 39-22, but that 17-point margin was as close as Wooster would come during the remainder of the contest.

Homan finished with a career-high 15 assists, breaking the Ohio Wesleyan single-game record of 14 set by Ann Osborne against Denison on Feb. 19, 1986.  The 15 assists raised Homan's career total to 615, breaking the North Coast Athletic Conference record of 601, set by Suzanne Helfant of Allegheny from 1984-88.

Miller led the Bishops with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Schipfer scored 12 points
.

Ohio Wesleyan had only 5 turnovers in the contest, tying the school record for fewest turnovers set against DePauw on Jan. 18, 2020, and equaled against Kenyon on Feb. 7, 2024.
