8th of 9 at Spartan Mat Classic

Senior Tyler Bodovetz (Steetsboro) placed for Ohio Wesleyan at the Spartan Mat Classic, hosted by Manchester University on Saturday in North Manchester, Ind.

Indiana Tech won the meet with 148 points to 134 for Marian.  Albion and Wabash tied for third place with 124 points, followed by Huntingdon (108), Manchester (72), Cornerstone (70½), Ohio Wesleyan (22), and Morton (14).

Wrestling at 174, Bodovetz received a first-round bye, then pinned Austin O`Donoghue of Marian in the second round.  After posting a sudden-victory decision over Landon Buchanan of Indiana Tech to move into the semifinals, Bodovetz lost a 16-4 major decision to David Burgess of Huntingdon.  In the third-place match, Bovodetz won a 10-3 decision over Zachary Knapp of Albion.

Freshman Ian Drake (Haines City, Fla./Ridge Community) advanced in the consolation bracket at 141 pounds.  After falling to Brady Ison of Marian, Drake pinned sophomore Emmitt Holland (Wake Forest, N.C.), then posted a 13-0 major decision over Hunter Wait of Manchester before losing an 18-2 technical fall to Andrew Collier of Indiana Tech.
