Wright Strikes Twice as Bishops Shutout Wilson 3-0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey team hit the road Friday to square off with Wilson College. After a slow start, the Battling Bishops caught fire in the second half, scoring three times to seal an impressive road victory.

OWU advances to 6-5, with a 4-1 mark in the NCAC. Wilson falls to 5-5, 1-0 in the United East.

The Red and Black generated plenty of first-half opportunities, taking nine shots with three on goal, but were unable to convert as the match remained scoreless at halftime.

After the break, the Bishops wasted no time, as Emma Wright broke the tie only three minutes into the third quarter. Wright stayed hot, scoring again just two minutes later as she buried a pass from Alyssa Markell into the back of the cage. In the 55th minute, Mattison Hyland connected with Mary Powers, who added another goal to extend the lead to three.

Wilson was unable to respond, leaving the final scoreline at 3-0.

Defenders Katie Conway, Annabel Fauver, and Emma Morgeson propelled the Bishops to their fourth shutout of the season.
