Ohio Wesleyan University sophomore Brianna Montgomery (Gibsonburg) and fifth-year Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week of February 10, it was announced by the NCAC.

Montgomery, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's track & field team, was named Women's Middle Distance/Distance Athlete of the Week; and Schipfer, a guard on the Ohio Wesleyan women's basketball team, was named Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Montgomery finished 16th in the 800-meter run at Ashland University's Jud Logan Life Giver Open on Saturday.  In a field that included competitors from Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA institutions, Montgomery was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the event, clocking a 2:20.66.  Montgomery's converted time of 2:22.28 (converted because the event took place on a 300-meter track) ranks second in the NCAC this season.

Schipfer sank a pair of free throws and a lay-in during an 8-0 burst that closed out the first quarter and extended a 14-10 lead into a 22-10 margin in Ohio Wesleyan's 91-55 win at Hiram on Wednesday.  Schipfer added 9 points during an 18-2 run to open second half, extending the Bishops' 41-30 halftime lead and sealing the outcome.  Schipfer matched a career best with 34 points, going 14-for-22 from the field and 6-for-8 from the line, and contributed 4 rebounds and 3 assists.  Schipfer then tallied 13 points during the fourth period alone as the Bishops closed out a 69-56 NCAC win at Wittenberg on Saturday.  The team-high 27 points raised Schipfer's career total to 2012 and made Schipfer the second Ohio Wesleyan player and the third in NCAC history to surpass the 2000-point mark.  Schipfer was 3-for-5 from the free throw line on the day, with the 5 attempts raising her career total to 597, breaking the school record of 592 set by Jill Myers from 1984-88.  Schipfer was 11-for-17 from the field, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.  On the week, Schipfer averaged 30.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, shooting 25-for-39 from the field (64.1 percent), 2-for-3 from downtown (66.7 percent), and 9-for-13 from line (69.2 percent).  Schipfer leads the NCAC in scoring (19.0 points/game) and ranks fifth in rebounding (6.9/game).
