Ambler, Mayberry Highlight Men's Swimming at NCAC Meet

Sophomore Nathan Ambler (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and junior Graham Mayberry (Urbandale, Iowa/Granville (Ohio)) recorded Ohio Wesleyan's best individual finishes during the third day of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.

Denison was leading the meet with 1287 points to 1074 for Kenyon.  Wabash was in third place with 727 points, followed by Oberlin (681), Wooster (628), DePauw (590½), Ohio Wesleyan (281), Hiram (264½), and Wittenberg (241).

Ambler finished 12th in the 200 freestyle in 1:45.58.

Mayberry placed 12th in the 100 backstroke in :53.54.

The Ohio Wesleyan duo teamed with sophomore Ian Sander (Pemberville/Eastwood)
and freshman Henry Gaudet (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) to finish seventh in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:27.81.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Sander, who was 16th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.12; Gaudet, who finished 25th in the 100 butterfly in :54.10; sophomore C.J. Abahazi (Delaware/Hayes), who placed 25th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.55; senior Chevy Kosek (Cleveland/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who finished 25th in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.97; and sophomore Alex Tovtyn (Allenstown, N.H./Pinkerton Academy), who was 27th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.46.


The NCAC championship meet concludes on Saturday, with preliminaries scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
