Hess Highlights Men's Track & Field at OWU Open

Freshman Michael Hess (Painesville/Fairport Harding) won 2 events for Ohio Wesleyan at the OWU Open, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at Gordon Field House.

Waynesburg won the team title with 100 points to 91 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Capital finished third with 10 points, followed by Ohio Dominican (7) and Trine (4).

Hess won the 60-meter hurdles in :08.93 and took the triple jump with a performance of 39-3¼.

Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were senior Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales), who won the 800-meter run in 2:06.84; freshman Nate Snead (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who won the 60-meter dash in :07.16; and sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), who won the 200-meter dash in :24.34.

Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who finished second in the 60-meter dash; junior Mack Fincham (SpringfieldKenton Ridge), who was second in the 60-meter hurdles; senior Logan McSwords (Marysville), who finished third in the high jump; sophomore Jayson Dyer (Kenton), who placed third in the 800-meter run; junior Xavier Platt (Fredericktown), who was third in the mile run; and junior Andrew Bentz (Marysville), who finished third in the weight throw.
