Johnson Turns in Top-10 Finish at NCAC Championship

Senior A.J. Johnson (Sutton, Neb.) posted a top-10 finish for Ohio Wesleyan during the third day of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.

Kenyon was leading the meet with 1433 points to 1341 for Denison.  DePauw was in third place with 818 points, followed by Wooster (684), Oberlin (559½), Wittenberg (478½), Ohio Wesleyan (411), and Hiram (187).

Johnson finished 10th in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 298.50.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Anna Lance (Delaware/Hayes), who finished 13th in the 100 butterfly in :59.99 and 14th in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.44; senior Lily Davis (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne), who placed 14th in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.97  and 18th in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.23; freshman Emilie Ott (Upper Arlington/Dublin Coffman), who was 15th in the 1-meter diving with a score of 192.80; sophomore Maria Thibodeaux (Cincinnati/Oak Hills), who placed 17th in the 400 IM in 5:16.71; sophomore August Lemert (Granville), who was 17th in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.48; senior Brooke Parker (Etna/Pataskala Watkins Memorial)
, who finished 19th in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke in respective times of 1:01.87 and 1:05.53; junior Maddie Hoyt (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), who was 19th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.84; junior Frannie Rhine (Cleveland/Lyndhurst Brush), who placed 25th in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.10; and senior Bella Guzzetta (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River), who finished 26th in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.28 and 27th in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.09.

The Ohio Wesleyan 200 freestyle relay team of Parker, Davis, Lemert, and Lance finished sixth in 1:42.37.

The NCAC championship meet concludes on Saturday, with preliminaries scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and finals scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
