Haten Wins Twice, Bishops Take Team Title at OWU Open

Freshman Tianna Haten (New Orleans, La./Carver) won 2 events to help Ohio Wesleyan win the team title at the OWU Open, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Friday at Gordon Field House.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 130 points to 34 for Capital.  Denison was third with 17 points, followed by Waynesburg (15), Ohio Dominican (7), and Trine (3).

Haten won the 200- and 400-meter dashes in respective times of :28.06 and 1:05.97.

Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Coral Pierson (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), who won the 60-meter hurdles in :09.55 and finished second in the 200-meter dash; freshman Kali Kohler (Wapakoneta), who won the long jump with a mark of 15-9½ and added a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles; sophomore Amarah McPaul (Muncie, Ind./Daleville), who won the 60-meter dash in :08.19; sophomore Aicha Tounkara (Delaware/Hayes), who won the 800-meter run in 2:28.80; freshman Jera Hoy (Radnor/Buckeye Valley), who won the shot put with a throw of 37-5¾; and junior Emily Davis (Brimfield/Mogadore Field), who won the weight throw with an effort of 45-1.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Charlotte Bynum (Grafton/Midview), who was second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash; junior McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), who finished second in the 800-meter run; freshman Elena Katsinou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Anatolia), who was second in the long jump; junior Emma Hall (Ironton), who finished third in the weight throw; freshman Abrianna Hite (Delaware/Hayes), who placed third in the 400-meter dash; freshman Ella Chomic (Westerville/Columbus School for Girls), who was third in the 800-meter run; sophomore Annika DeLong (Archbold), who finished third in the mile run; and junior Phoebe Dreschel (Castalia/Margaretta), who placed third in the weight throw.
