Women's Track & Field Second at All-Ohio

Sophomore Allison Dietz (Newark) and the Ohio Wesleyan distance medley relay team won All-Ohio titles to lead the Bishops at the All-Ohio championship, hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday in Westerville.

Mount Union won the meet with 108½ points to 89 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Case Reserve was third with 77 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace (69), John Carroll (63), Ohio Northern (60), Kenyon (44), Denison (27), Marietta (24), Heidelberg (21), Wooster (20), Oberlin (19), Otterbein (17), Muskingum (16), Hiram (7½), and Capital (0).

Dietz won the 3000-meter run in 10:33.40.

The distance medley relay team of senior Ashley Beatty (Delaware/Buckeye Valley), senior Katelyn Stapleton (Urbana/West Liberty Salem), junior McKenna Downing (Pleasant Hill/Newton Local), and sophomore Sophie Cotts (Granville) won its event in 13:00.15.

All-Ohio honors also went to sophomore Zoe Ward (Columbus/Worthington Christian), who placed second in the 3000-meter run; freshman Katherine Dortmund (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales), who finished third in the 60-meter hurdles; freshman Niyah Shipman (North Robinson/Colonel Crawford), who was third in the high jump; the 800-meter relay team of sophomore Amarah McPhaul (Muncie, Ind./Daleville), freshman Aelyn Baumbarger (Marysville), freshman Yehdeiah Dennis (Columbus/Beechcroft), and freshman Kennedy Elfers (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), which finished second; and the 1600-meter relay team of Dennis, Downing, Elfers, and senior Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), which finished second.

Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Eleanor Luttman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington), who finished fourth in the 5000-meter run; sophomore Brianna Montgomery (Gibsonburg), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; Elfers, who placed fourth in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Addie Beck (Wadsworth), who finished fourth in the pole vault; Baumbarger, who was fifth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 60-meter dash; junior Claire Coleman (Cincinnati/Ursuline Academy), who finished fifth in the pole vault; freshman Ella Chomic (Westerville/Columbus School for Girls), who placed seventh in the mile run; and McPhaul, who was eighth in the high jump.
