Strange, Sir Louis, Hess Compete in NCAC Heptathlon

Sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), freshman Tanner Sir Louis (Wadsworth), and freshman Michael Hess (Painesville/Fairport Harding) represented Ohio Wesleyan during the first day of the North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon competition, hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday in Oberlin.

Strange was in fourth place with a total of 2363 points after the first day's events, Sir Louis was in sixth place with 2245 points, and Hess was in seventh place with 2241 points.

Strange opened the meet by clocking a :07.23 in the 60-meter dash, the best time of the day and good for 802 points.  Strange's mark of of 20-½ in the long jump was fourth-best on the day and added 610 points, while his performances in the shot put (32-¼) and high jump (5-3¾) ranked sixth and tied for sixth respectively.

Sir Louis had the second-best performance in the long jump with a leap of 20-5¼, good for 637 points, and Sir Louis added 753 points with a :07.38 in the 60-meter dash, fourth overall on the day.  Sir Louis was eighth overall in the shot put (29-4) and high jump (5-1¼).

Hess finished the day with the fifth-best effort in the high jump, clearing 5-7¼ for 552 points.  Hess racked up 681 points with a :07.60 in the 60-meter dash, and ranked seventh in the shot put (31-1¼) and eighth in the long jump (19-2½).

The NCAC heptathlon competition is scheduled to conclude on Sunday with the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault, and the 1000-meter run.
