Strange Wins All-NCAC Honors in Heptathlon; Sir Louis, Hess Score

Sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in the heptathlon during the second day of the North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon competition, hosted by Oberlin College on Sunday in Oberlin.

Strange finished third with a total of 4222 points.  Freshman Tanner Sir Louis (Wadsworth) finished fourth with 4027 points and freshman Michael Hess (Painesville/Fairport Harding) placed fifth with 4006 points.

Strange opened Sunday by adding 759 points with an :08.94 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for fourth overall.  Strange tied for fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10-10, and was fifth in the 1000-meter run in 2:59.49 for 669 points.

Sir Louis cleared 12-9½ in the pole vault, equaling the best mark of the day, to score 590 points.  Sir Louis picked up 593 points with a :09.73 in the 60-meter hurdles and 599 points with a 3:06.80 in the 1000-meter run.

Hess finished third in the 60-meter hurdles, with the time of :08.90 adding 768 points, and was second in the 1000-meter run in 2:55.31 to score 711 more points.  Hess cleared 8-10¼ in the pole vault for 286 additional points.

The 15 points scored by Strange, Sir Louis, and Hess will carry over to the NCAC championship meet, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Oberlin.
