Ohio Wesleyan 14, Ohio Northern 7

Sophomore midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) collected a goal and 2 assists as Ohio Wesleyan opened the game with a 6-1 run on the way to a non-conference win over Ohio Northern on Tuesday at Selby Stadium.

Ross set up senior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) on a goal in the opening minute of the contest, and just over a minute later, it was senior midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) with a score for a 2-0 lead, followed by a goal from sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) just 23 seconds after that.  Junior attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) added a score to make it 4-0.

Jack Chaney put the Polar Bears on the scoreboard midway through the opening period, but the Bishops countered with goals from Ross and junior midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) for a 6-1 lead.

The visitors closed to within 7-4 midway through the second quarter as Nathan Flynn, J.D. Hale, and Colin Willits found the back of the net, but Ohio Wesleyan answered with scores from sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) and Ross to turn aside that rally.

Wiseman and Beckstrom each scored twice during the second half to keep Ohio Wesleyan in front.

Beckstrom led the Bishops with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Wiseman contributed 3 goals and an assist and Ross finished with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan crease, making 11 saves.
