Stevenson 19, Ohio Wesleyan 14

Sophomore midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) scored 3 goals during the third quarter as Ohio Wesleyan built a 14-11 lead, but 20th-ranked Stevenson outscored the Bishops, 8-0, during the fourth quarter to take a non-conference decision in the season opener for both teams on Friday in Owings Mills, Md.

The Bishops got scores from senior midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Ross to even the game at 6 heading into halftime, and after the teams traded goals to open the third period, it again was Wiseman and Ross with goals for a 9-7 Ohio Wesleyan advantage.

Max Racich set up a pair of goals during a 3-0 Stevenson run that put the hosts up, 11-10, but the Bishops reeled off 4 straight scores, with Wiseman, sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga), senior defensive midfielder Anthony Fresolone (Marblehead, Mass./Kimball Union Academy (N.H.), and Ross finding the back of the net for a 14-11 Bishop lead.

Racich scored just over a minute into the fourth quarter, and after a goal by Darrell Curtis just under a minute later, it was Racich with a goal just :19 after that to even the score at 14.  Racich followed with a goal midway through the fourth period for a 15-14 Mustang lead, and Stevenson added a pair of Gavin Gossen down the stretch to pull away.

Ross led the Bishops with 5 goals and 2 assists.  Beckstrom added 3 goals and an assist, and Wiseman scored 3 times.  Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) stopped 11 shots in the Bishop crease.
