Senior Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley) drove in 2 runs to give Ohio Wesleyan a 4-2 lead, but Ferrum rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday in Johnson City, Tenn.

In the nightcap,
the Panthers scored twice in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and went on to complete the sweep.

Ohio Wesleyan took an early lead in the opener on RBI singles by junior first baseman Alex Snyder (Massillon/Jackson) in the first and senior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) in the second, but the Panthers evened the game at 2 in the third.

Duckworth's 2-run single in the sixth plated Stoner and sophomore third baseman Michael Malone (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) for a 4-2 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

In the bottom of the seventh,
Ferrum's Jorge Olivo drew a 1-out walk and Seth Shannon followed with a single.  J.J. Tyree forced Shannon at second for the second out, but Tyler Mason singled hom Olivo to make it 4-3, and Carlos Castillo singled home Tyree to tie the game.  With runners at the corners, Kyle Markowitz dropped a squeeze bunt and Mason beat the play at the plate to score the winning run.

Snyder was 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Junior righthander Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) was charged with the loss in relief.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the nightcap on a sacrifice fly by Shawn Baxter and an RBI single by J.J. Mulhern, but the Bishops came back to tie as Vitense singled in a run in the third and junior catcher Blake Pettit (Hilliard/Davidson) knocked in a run in the fourth.

Ferrum took the lead in the fifth on Markowitz's RBI single and added an insurance run on Tyree's sacrifice fly later in the inning.

Snyder and junior outfielder Colton Moone (South Vienna/Northeastern) each went 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Sophomore righthander Jacob Lowery (Lyndhurst/Gilmour Academy) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.
