Junior midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored to give Ohio Wesleyan a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter, but second-ranked Salisbury answered with an 11-1 run and went on to a win over the Bishops on Tuesday in Salisbury, Md.

Junior attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of the game, but the Sea Gulls evened the score on Riley Strub's goal with 9:46 left in the first period.

Smith's goal put the Bishops up at the 7:38 mark.

Strub and Ryan Della closed out the first quarter with goals just over a minute apart, and the hosts opened the second period with 4 straight goals, getting 2 from Della during that stretch, to expand the margin to 7-2.

Senior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) ended that Salisbury run with a goal at 7:43 of the quarter, but the Sea Gulls scored 3 times to close out the half, then opened the third quarter with goals from Brice Bromwell and Della to take a 12-3 lead.

Sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) and Smith responded with goals for Ohio Wesleyan, and after Siegenthaler scored during the final minute of the third period and Beckstrom opened the fourth quarter with a goal, the Bishops were within 14-7, but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come.

Beckstrom finished with 2 goals and an assist, and Siegenthaler and Smith each had 2 goals.
Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) recorded a career-high 19 saves.
