Sophomore outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes) singled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning to help Ohio Wesleyan to a win over Western New England on Tuesday in Winter Haven, Fla.

In Tuesday's second game, Calvin built an 8-0 lead and went on to take the win.

Gist doubled in a run and scored and freshman outfielder Abbe Wherett (Centreville, Mich.) followed with an RBI single to give the Bishops a 4-1 lead against Western New England, but the Golden Bears rallied to tie the game at 4 with the help of a 2-run single by Nicolina Salanto.

After the teams traded runs in the fifth and eighth innings, Gist singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and the Bishops added 2 insurance runs on a WNEU misplay.

Gist was 3-for-5 with 4 runs scored, with the 4 runs scored tying the school record accomplished 9 times previously.  Wherett finished at 2-for-5.  Sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) worked 3.2 innings of hitless relief to collect the win.

Calvin strung together 4 hits and took advantage of a Bishop error during its 4-run second inning.  The Knights added a pair of unearned runs in the fourth and got an RBI single from Carly Dole in the fifth to make it 8-0.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied in the bottom of the fifth, getting consecutive RBI singles from freshman outfielder Sylvie Devore (Dresden/Newark Licking Valley), Wherett, and Gist, but Calvin broke the game open with 4 runs in the seventh.

Morris was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.
