Sophomore outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes) tripled home a pair of runs in the first inning to start Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a win over Curry on Thursday in Winter Haven, Fla.

In Thursday's second game, junior catcher Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen) and freshman outfielder Abbe Wherett (Centreville, Mich.) drove in runs to give the Bishops an early 2-0 lead, but Carthage scored 10 unanswered runs to take the win.

Gist's 2-run triple in the bottom of the first staked Ohio Wesleyan to a 2-0 lead, but Jillian Rogers scored in the top of the second to bring the Colonels within 2-1.

Ohio Wesleyan got the run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by senior second baseman McKenna Tuttle (Richmond, Ky./Model Laboratory School), and made it 4-1 in the fourth when sophomore outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) singled, stole second, moved to third on an infield out, and scored on a single by freshman outfielder Sylvie Devore (Dresden/Newark Licking Valley).

Curry closed to within 4-3 in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Jennelle Munoz and a run-scoring single from Skylar Colburn, but senior righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) came on in relief to get the final 2 outs.

Devore was 2-for-3 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Senior righthander Makenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington) worked the first 6.1 innings to record the win, and Rodriguez was credited with a save.

Against Carthage, the Bishops took a 2-0 lead on hits by Panozzo and Wherett, but the
Firebirds struck for 5 runs in the fourth, highlighted by a 2-run single from Addison Simonson.

Carthage added 2 runs in the second with the help of Gwen Hendrick's RBI double, and pushed across 3 runs in the sixth with the help of Olivia Hristov's RBI single and Izzy Hernandez's RBI triple.

Sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.
