Senior righthander Makenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington) and freshman shortstop Caity Journey (Nashport/Dresden Tri-Valley) drove in fifth-inning runs to provide what proved to be the winning margin as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Lakeland in the second of 2 games on Friday in Winter Haven, Fla.

In Friday's first game, the Bishops took an early lead, but Westminster scored the final 7 runs of the game to take the decision.

Ohio Wesleyan built a 6-0 lead against Lakeland, with senior first baseman Sophie Leohner (Upper Arlington) knocking in a run in the first, junior catcher Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen) driving in 2 runs during a 3-run second, and Knisley and Journey plating runs in the fifth.

Lakeland rallied with 2 runs in the sixth,
getting RBI singles from Brianna Gaedtke and Sam Marchant, and the Muskies rallied in the seventh, with McKenzie Staudinger and Callie Linders driving in runs, but sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) retired Gaedtke for the final out to finish off the complete-game win.

Journey was 2-for-3 and Morris went 2-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.

The Bishops took the lead in the bottom of the first against Westminster, as
Panozzo led off with a single and scored on a Westminster error after a single by sophomore outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes).

Westminster strung together 4 hits in the third, scoring 3 times, and added a 2-run double by Faith Jones in the fourth and a 2-run single by Morgan O'Brien in the fifth.  Meanwhile, Titan starter Cheyenne Piper shut down the Bishop offense, allowing only one Ohio Wesleyan baserunner past first base during the final 6.0 innings.

Panozzo was 2-for-3 for the Bishops.  Knisley was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.
