Wiseman Fuels 6-0 Run in Men's Lacrosse Win Over Hampden-Sydney

Senior midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored 5 goals during the second quarter as Ohio Wesleyan took the lead for good and went on to a non-conference win over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

With the score tied at 3 after the first quarter, Wiseman scored early in the second period to put the Bishops ahead to stay.  Sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) followed with a goal and then Wiseman reeled off 4 consecutive scores, finding the back of the net just 33 seconds apart before adding goals in the 26th and 28th minutes to make it a 9-3 game at the intermission.

The Tigers opened the second half with 3 straight scores, 2 coming from Davis Mack, to pull within 10-6, but senior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) rang up a pair of scores later in the period as the Bishops led, 12-8, heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior defenseman Trey Weber (Castle Pines, Colo./Rock Canyon) and Geier kicked off the fourth period with goals, but the Tigers answered with scores from Broder Conley and Conor Kilfeather just :16 apart to close to within 14-10 with 9:15 remaining.

In the closing minutes, sophomore midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) and Beckstrom scored goals :28 apart to stretch the lead to 16-10 and seal the outcome.

Wiseman led the Bishops with 6 goals, while Beckstrom finished with 4 goals and an assist and Geier added 3 goals and an assist. 
Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) stopped 10 shots in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.
