Ohio Wesleyan 6, Wilmington 2

Junior first baseman Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) drove in runs in the first and second innings to help Ohio Wesleyan build a 6-0 lead on the way to a non-conference win over Wilmington on Wednesday in Wilmington.

Senior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) opened the game with a double and scored when Vitense followed with a single.  Two outs later, singles by junior catcher Carter Vilevac (Sheffield Village/Brookside) and junior outfielder Colton Moone (South Vienna, Ohio/Northeastern) drove in Vitense.

Vitense plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the second, and the Bishops made it 4-0 in the third after singles by senior second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley) and Moone.  A 2-run single by junior first baseman Alex Snyder (Massillon/Jackson) knocked in 2 runs in the top of the sixth for a 6-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead.

Duckworth was 3-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan, while Stoner was 2-for-3 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.  Sophomore righthander Jacob Lowery (Lyndhurst/Gilmour Academy) worked the first 6.0 innings, scattering 7 hits and striking out 6 while walking none, to record the win.
