Ohio Wesleyan 17, Capital 16

Sophomore attacker Brie Colangelo (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School) scored the game-winner with 2:10 left in regulation time to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Capital in non-conference play on Wednesday in Columbus.

The Bishops trailed, 16-15, after Capital's Grace Osborn scored with 5:22 to play, but junior midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) tallied the equalizer with 3:17 remaining.

Colangelo was fouled and converted a free-position shot to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead, 17-16.

Capital won the ensuing draw and got a shot by Osborn with 1:28 to play, but the shot sailed high and the Bishop defense did not allow the Comets another shot during the remainder of the contest.

The Comets led, 4-3, after closing out the first quarter with 3 straight scores, then scored 3 goals late in the second period to extend the lead to 9-5.

Ohio Wesleyan went on a 4-0 run during the third quarter, taking a 12-11 lead on a Colangelo goal before Osborn converted a free-position shot to even the game at 12 heading into the fourth quarter.

After the teams traded goals 3 times, Osborn's goal gave the Comets the 16-15 lead before Ohio Wesleyan rallied for the final 2 scores.

Colangelo led the Bishops with 5 goals and an assist, while junior attacker Sam Frary (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley Charter) contributed 3 goals and 3 assists.  Senior Abby Markowitz (Las Vegas, Nev./Somerset Academy) finished with 9 saves.
