Sophomore outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes) drove in a run to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, but Otterbein struck for 7 runs in the fourth inning and went on to a win in the opener of a non-conference doubleheader on Friday in Westerville.

In the nightcap, Gist knocked in a run to give the Bishops an early lead, but a 5-run second frame lifted the Cardinals to a win and finished off a sweep of the twinbill.

Otterbein took a 2-0 lead in the opener on first-inning RBI singles by Caroline Heller and Maggie McVicker.

Gist singled in a run in the top of the third to bring the Bishops within 2-1, but the Cardinals evened the score when McVicker plated a run in the bottom of the inning.

Otterbein broke the game open in the fourth with the help of a 3-run homer from Jen Sindledecker and a 2-run double by McVicker.

Sophomore outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) was 2-for-2 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

Gist staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning of the nightcap.

The Cardinals took the lead with 5 runs in the second, getting a leadoff homer from Rachel Miller to tie the game and a 2-run double from Kaylie Eichorn to take the lead.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened in the second but stranded 2 runners, had runners on second and third with nobody out but couldn't score in the third, stranded 2 runners in the fourth, and loaded the bases with nobody out but couldn't score in the fifth.

Gist went 3-for-4 for the Bishops.  Junior righthander Mckenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan
