Senior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) drove in a run to cap a 5-run eighth-inning rally that tied the game at 14, but Olivet struck for 4 runs in the top of the ninth and held on to win the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at Littick Field.

In the opener, the Comets talled 11 runs in the last 2 innings to pull away for the win.

Olivet took an early lead with 3 runs in the second inning of the opener, getting RBI doubles from Austin Alflen and Tyler Duncan.

Stoner singled home a run to bring the Bishops within 3-1 in the third, but Alflen led off the top of the fourth with a home run to get that run back, and Duncan smashed a solo homer in the sixth to make it 5-1.

The Bishops closed to within 5-3 on Stoner's run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth, but the visitors scored 5 runs in the seventh with the help of Mikey Kuzara's 2-run double, then pushed across 6 runs in the eighth with the help of a 2-run single from E.J. Suggitt and a 2-run double by Duncan.

Stoner and junior first baseman Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) drove in runs in the bottom of the eighth to account for the 16-6 final.

Stoner went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and junior catcher Carter Vilevac (Sheffield Village/Brookside) was 2-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Junior righthander Parker Tomlin (Atlanta, Ga./Westerville (Ohio) Central) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

In the nightcap, Ohio Wesleyan raced to a 5-0 first-inning lead, highlighted by a 2-run double from junior outfielder Jack Bates (Westerville/South), and the Bishops went up, 6-0, in the second on a sacrifice fly off the bat of senior second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley).

Kuzara doubled in runs in each inning as Olivet scored 3 times in the third and twice in the fourth, and the Comets took the lead on Suggitt's 3-run homer in the fifth.

Sophomore third baseman Luke Johnson (Cincinnati/Batavia West Clermont) lined a bases-clearing double in the sixth to even the score at 9, but the Comets countered with a 2-run homer by Mason Cook in the seventh and a 3-run blast by Duncan in the eighth on the way to a 14-9 lead.

Once again, the Bishops had an answer, getting a bases-loaded walk by Vilevac, a bases-loaded hit batsman in junior catcher Blake Pettit (Hilliard/Davidson), a 2-run single by junior outfielder Matt Spencer (Hilliard/Darby) before Stoner's single up the middle plated Pettit to knot the game at 14.

Suggitt had a 2-run double and Duncan followed with a run-scoring single as Olivet took the lead with 4 runs in the top of the ninth.

The Bishops rallied in the bottom of the ninth, getting walks by sophomore outfielder Myles Foy (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) and Johnson before a run-scoring single by fifth-year infielder Mason Timko (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny) cut the deficit to 18-15 and brought the tying run to the plate in Pettit, but Comet reliever Logan Lewis retired Pettit on a foul ball to end the comeback.

Stoner was 3-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Vitense was charged with the loss in relief
