The Ohio Wesleyan men's lacrosse team came out strong with momentum on its side and went on to a 29-0 win over Hiram on Saturday at Selby Stadium. The Bishops secured their first shutout win since the April 17, 2021, when they had a 22-0 win over Wabash.

Senior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) got the Bishops on the board quickly and senior attacker Spencer Amacher (Blacksburg, Va./Blue Ridge School) doubled the lead a minute later.  Geier then scored 3 straight goals in 3 minutes to give Ohio Wesleyan a 5-0 lead.  Before the end of the first quarter, that lead more than doubled with a goal from senior midfielder Malik Sillah (Rockville, Md./Montgomery) and 2 from both senior midfielder Joey Wiseman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga).  Amacher added one more as the clock ran down on the first quarter.

The scoring did not stop there with Wiseman immediately finding the back of the net to start the second quarter.  Sophomore attacker Carson Fialho (Pleasanton, Calif./De La Salle) added a goal of his own before tallying an assist just 2 minutes later on an Amacher goal. Freshman attacker Blake Altman (Salem, Ore./Lake Oswego) notched a goal and assist of his own as the second quarter ran on.  Junior attacker Xander Craven (Franklinville, N.C./Greensboro Day School) found the back of the net on a man-up goal to help carry the Bishops to an 18-0 halftime lead.

Sophomore midfielder Aidan Bates (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) kept the energy going for the Bishops, scoring 3 minutes into the second half, and later adding 2 more goals in the third quarter.  Junior goalkeeper Will White (Pelham, N.Y./Memorial) took the field both in goal and as an attacker, where he scored a goal for the Bishops, bringing the score to 24-0.

Sophomore midfielder Cole Tulgestke (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) scored to end the third and added another to start the fourth quarter. Sophomore long-stick midfielder Jed Tometsko (Seattle, Wash./Bishop Blauchet) and junior long-stick midfielder Aidan Gennaro (Commack, N.Y./Commack) rounded out the scoring with their first collegiate goals.

The Bishops outshot the Terriers, 84-20.

Geier led the scoring efforts with 4.  Amacher, Wiseman, Tulgestke, Beckstrom, and Bates all followed with 3 goals.  Ten other Bishops added one goal each in the dominant win.

Beckstrom's 3 goals raised his career total to 100 points.

Four different Bishops saw time in goal.  Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) started in goal, White subbed in for the second quarter, making 3 saves, and both freshman John Allen (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and sophomore Jason Mosher (Hilton, N.Y.) made one save in their 15 minutes.
