Theobald Wins Javelin at Virginia Opener

Senior Trey Theobald (Archbold) won the javelin to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Virginia Opener, hosted by the University of Virginia on Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.

The meet was not scored.

Theobald won the event with a throw of 201-10, finishing more than 2 feet ahead of the runner-up.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Connor Smith (Marysville), who was second in the high jump; senior Preston Pethtel (Heath), who placed fourth in the 3000-meter run; junior Andrew Bentz (Marysville), who was fourth in the shot put; junior Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), who finished fifth in the 400-meter dash and seventh in the high jump; freshman Jacob Blubaugh (Columbus/Bishop Ready), who placed fifth in the 3000-meter run; sophomore Dylan Harper (Marysville), who was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles; junior Chinedu Melenu (Bowie, Md.), who placed fifth in the triple jump; senior Simon Leck (Toledo/St. Francis DeSales), who finished sixth in the 3000-meter run; junior Eric Schneiter (New London), who was sixth in the shot put; senior Kory Kaiser (Cincinnati/West Clermont), who placed seventh in the 3000-meter run; sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), who finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles; sophomore Tyler Fuchs (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), who placed seventh in the shot put; junior Austin Roberts (Granville), who was eighth in the hammer; junior Xavier Platt (Fredericktown), who finished eighth in the 3000-meter run; junior Mack Fincham (Springfield/Kenton Ridge), who placed eighth in the high jump; and freshman Tanner Sir Louis (Wadsworth), who was eighth in the long jump.
