Women's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Virginia

Junior Emily Davis (Brimfield/Mogadore Field) turned in Ohio Wesleyan's best individual finish to lead the Bishops at the Virginia Opener, hosted by the University of Virginia on Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.

The meet was not scored.

Davis finished third in the discus with a throw of 132-1 and added a fifth-place finish in the hammer.

Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Emma Hall (Ironton), who placed fourth in the hammer, seventh in the shot put, and eighth in the discus; freshman Katherine Dortmund (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales), who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles; sophomore Alexis Eusey (Marengo/Highland), who was sixth in the shot put; freshman Jera Hoy (Radnor/Buckeye Valley), who finished seventh in the discus and the hammer and eighth in the shot put; freshman Yehdeiah Dennis (Columbus/Beechcroft), who placed seventh in the 400-meter dash; junior Phoebe Dreschel (Castalia/Margaretta), who was seventh in the javelin; sophomore Charlotte Bynum (Grafton/Midview), who finished eighth in the 400-meter dash; sophomore Sophie Cotts (Granville), who was eighth in the 3000-meter run; senior Aliisa James (Miamisburg/Dayton Christian), who finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles; and junior Hazel Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), who placed eighth in the javelin.
