Box Score
Heidelberg 4, Ohio Wesleyan 3

Senior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) scored the tying run in the top of the ninth inning, but Heidelberg got the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Sunday in Tiffin.

With the Bishops trailing, 3-2, Stoner was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the ninth, stole second, moved to third on an infield out, and scored on a fly ball by junior first baseman Alex Snyder (Massillon/Jackson).

In the bottom of the inning,
Heidelberg's Theo Walsh led off with a fly ball to deep right-center.  Junior outfielder Matt Spencer (Hilliard/Darby) tracked down the ball near the warning track after a long run, but the ball popped free and rolled toward centerfield, with Walsh scoring the game-winning run on the play.

The Student Princes had taken a 3-0 lead in the second with the help of a 2-run double by Kyle Krummen.

Ohio Wesleyan got its leadoff hitter on base in the first, second, fifth, and sixth innings only to see the Heidelberg defense turn a double play in each frame.

That changed in the seventh, when Snyder, senior second baseman Ryan Duckworth (Hilliard/Bradley), and Spencer opened the inning with consecutive doubles.  Heidelberg's Payton Moser came on in relief and got out of the inning without any further damage, stranding the tying run at second base.

Duckworth was 3-for-4 for Ohio Wesleyan.
Junior righthander Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.), who came on in relief to open the ninth inning, was charged with the loss.
