Sophomore outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) singled in a run to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, but Earlham rallied for a win in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday in Richmond, Ind.

In the opener, f
ifth-year third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) doubled in a run during a 2-run seventh inning that brought Ohio Wesleyan within 4-3, but Earlham held on for the win.

Ohio Wesleyan tied the game at 1 on a run-scoring double by sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) in the opener, but the Quakers took the lead on a bases-clearing double by Alana Smith in the fifth.

With one out in the top of the seventh, freshman shortstop Caity Journey (Nashport/Dresden Tri-Valley) reached on an error by Quaker second baseman Bella Schatko.  Vanden Eynden beat out an infield single and Back followed with a run-scoring double to make it 4-2.  Vanden Eynden scored on an infield out off the bat of Morris, but with the tying run at third base, Quaker pitcher Tatum Rickert induced a game-ending ground out from senior catcher Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen).

Morris pitched the complete game for Ohio Wesleyan.

The nightcap saw the Bishops break a scoreless tie in the fourth when junior infielder Kelsey Shiley (Fostoria/Tiffin Calvert) led off with a double, moved to third on a single by Journey, and scored on Vanden Eynden's single.  Back reached on an error by Earlham shortstop Bo Shelton to load the bases, but Morgan Cooksey came on in relief and retired Morris and Panozzo to get out of the inning without any further damage.

The Quakers took the lead in the fifth as Keely Hubbard led off with a double, Malaya Tanglao singled, and Shelton singled home Hubbard to even the score at 1.  One out later, Drew Tubesing doubled home Tanglao to put Earlham ahead to stay.

Junior righthander Makenna Knisley (Washington Court House/Washington) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.
