Smith 4-Time All-Ohio Honoree, Bishops Finish Third

Sophomore Connor Smith (Marysville) won 4 All-Ohio citations in leading Ohio Wesleyan during the second day of the All-Ohio championship meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at Selby Stadium and the George Gauthier Track.

Baldwin Wallace won the meet with 172 points to 92½ for Otterbein.  Ohio Wesleyan finished third with 88 points, followed by Denison (84½), Case Reserve (63½
), Ohio Northern (62½), Oberlin (56), Muskingum (39), Wooster (37), Kenyon (29), Capital (23), Marietta (17), Wilmington (9), and Heidelberg (4).

Smith finished second in the 200-meter dash and the high jump and placed third in the 100-meter dash.  He also teamed with sophomore Joel Adade (Columbus/Beechcroft), junior Ryan Tripp (Sunbury/Big Walnut), and junior Joe Larkins (Cleveland/Ginn Academy) for a second-place finish in the 400-meter relay.  Smith also combined with Tripp, junior Jake Marzulli (Medina), and senior Mason Myers (Perrysville/Hillsdale) for a fourth-place finish in the 1600-meter relay.

All-Ohio honors also went to sophomore Dylan Harper (Marysville), who was second in the 110-meter hurdles and added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles; Adade, who finished second in the 100-meter dash and added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Michael Strange (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees), who placed second in the 400-meter hurdles and was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles; senior Coleman Kegler (Columbus/Upper Arlington), who finished second in the javelin; and freshman Dominic Brown (Marysville), who placed third in the javelin.


Other standouts for the Bishops included Tripp, who placed fifth in the 400-meter dash; Larkins, who was eighth in the 100-meter dash; freshman Michael Hess (Painesville/Fairport Harding), who finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles; freshman Tanner Sir Louis (Wadsworth), who placed eighth in the pole vault; and junior Chinedu Melenu (Bowie, Md.), who was eighth in the triple jump
