Bishops' Schipfer Repeats as Academic All-America® Selection

Ohio Wesleyan University fifth-year guard Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg) was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® women's basketball teams, it was announced today.

Schipfer was a first-team Academic All-America® selection for the second straight season.

Schipfer received Division III Coaches' All-America recognition from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and was a second-team All-America selection by D3hoops.com.  Schipfer also was named the Region 7 Player of the Year and was a first-team all-region selection by D3hoops.com, repeated as North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice, and won Academic All-District® recognition from the College Sports Communicators.  Schipfer led the North Coast Athletic Conference and ranked 25th in NCAA Division III in scoring (19.6 points/game), led the NCAC and tied for 18th in Division III in points (550), ranked seventh in the NCAC in rebounding (6.3/game), ranked sixth in the NCAC in rebounds (175), ranked fourth in the NCAC and 26th in NCAA Division III in field goal percentage (53.4), shared the NCAC lead and tied for 14th in NCAA Division III in field goals (219), ranked seventh in the NCAC in free throw percentage (76.4), led the NCAC in free throws (107), ranked 15th in the NCAC in assists (56), ranked 16th in the NCAC in assists per game (2.0), ranked fourth in the NCAC in steals (64), and ranked fourth in the NCAC in steals per game (2.3).  Schipfer was named NCAC Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice for the third straight season. 

Schipfer majors in exercise science and psychology.

The Academic All-America® teams are selected by members of the College Sports Communicators.  To be considered for the teams, one must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better and meet high athletic standards.
