Sophomore outfielder Rylea Gist (Delaware/Hayes) and sophomore righthander Shelby Morris (Centerburg) drove in first-inning runs to give Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 lead, but Hiram rallied for a win in the nightcap of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday in Hiram.

In the opener, Hiram's Darian Kanno tossed a 3-hit shutout and drove in 2 runs to lead the Terriers to the win.

The Bishops got singles from fifth-year third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark), senior catcher Avery Panozzo (Denver, Colo./Mullen), and Gist to take a 1-0 lead in the nightcap and a bases-loaded walk by Morris to make it 2-0, but Hiram evened the score on a 2-run double by Angel Santellan in the bottom of the inning.

Ohio Wesleyan took
a 3-2 lead on a run-scoring single by senior first baseman Sophie Leohner (Upper Arlington) in the third, but the Terriers scored 3 runs in the fourth, highlighted by a 2-run double by Fayth Kawamura, and added 4 more runs in the sixth.

Back was 3-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan.  Morris was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

The opener saw Kanno give the Terriers a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the third and add a solo homer in the sixth.  Meanwhile, Kanno faced one batter over the minimum.  The Bishops collected 3 singles in the game, but 2 of those baserunners were thrown out attempting to steal second.

Senior righthander Kaelyn Rodriguez (South El Monte, Calif.) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan
