Beckstrom Fuels Early Run, Bishops Move to 7-0 in NCAC

Sophomore attacker Wade Beckstrom (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) collected 4 goals and 3 assists during a game-opening 10-1 run that started Ohio Wesleyan on its way to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Wooster on Wednesday at Selby Stadium.

Senior midfielder Brady Hunt (Maineville/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) and junior midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) scored goals 30 seconds apart as the Bishops broke into the scoring column, then Hunt and senior attacker Carson Geier (Milford) repeated that feat, with Beckstrom assisting on Geier's goal before scoring one of his own to make it 5-0.

Wooster's Jack Holub took advantage of a turnover in the Ohio Wesleyan end to put the Fighting Scots on the scoreboard midway through the opening quarter, but Beckstrom powered the Bishop response, either scoring or assisting Ohio Wesleyan's next 5 goals as the hosts increased the margin to 10-1.

Sophomore midfielder Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, Wash./Mount Si) scored during the closing seconds of the first half for a 13-3 Ohio Wesleyan lead at the break, but Wooster opened the second half with a 4-1 run that included another goal by Holub, bringing the Fighting Scots within 14-7 midway through the third.

Junior attacker Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, Ill./York) then scored back-to-back goals to kick off a 9-0 Ohio Wesleyan run that sealed the outcome.

Beckstrom led the Bishops with 5 goals and 3 assists, while Geier finished with 5 goals and an assist. 
Senior Nathan George (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) had 7 saves
during the first 48-plus minutes and sophomore Jason Mosher (Hilton, N.Y.) stopped 3 shots in completing the game in the Ohio Wesleyan crease.

Junior midfielder Noah Citek (Long Beach, Calif./St. John Bosco) collected 20 face-off wins on the evening, tying for fourth place on the Bishop single-game (2007-) list.
