Junior first baseman Zane Vitense (Maple Grove, Minn.) singled in a run to the game at 5, but Wittenberg rallied for a win in the opener of a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday in Springfield.

In the nightcap, junior outfielder Matt Spencer (Hilliard/Darby) singled home a run for a 3-0 Bishop lead, but the Tigers rallied for a win to complete the sweep.

Ohio Wesleyan raced to an early lead in the opener when senior outfielder Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) led off the game with a single, moved to second on a walk to sophomore third baseman Luke Johnson (Cincinnati/Batavia West Clermont), and scored on a single by junior first baseman Alex Snyder (Massillon/Jackson), but Wittenberg scored 4 times in the bottom of the inning with the help of Xander Rodriguez's 2-run single and added a run in the second on Tommy Chilicki's run-scoring double.

The Bishops evened the score in the fifth on an RBI single by Johnson, a 2-run single by Spencer, and an infield single by Vitense that plated Johnson.

The Tigers took the lead on Rocco Royer's 3-run homer in the sixth.

Snyder crushed a 2-run homer in the seventh to bring the Bishops within 8-7, but Wittenberg got those runs back in the bottom of the inning and pulled away with 4 more runs in the eighth.

Stoner and Snyder each went 2-for-4 for the Bishops, with Stoner scoring twice and Snyder driving in 3 runs.  Junior righthander Parker Tomlin (Atlanta, Ga./Westerville (Ohio) Central) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops.

Snyder smashed a solo homer in the top of the first inning in the nightcap, and Johnson doubled home a run and scored on Spencer's single in the third to give the Bishops a 3-0 lead.

Chilicki led off the Wittenberg fourth with a home run and Thatcher Dietz led off the Tiger fifth with a homer, and the hosts went on to score 4 more times in that inning.

Snyder singled in 2 runs in the seventh to bring the Bishops within 7-5, but Dietz led off the bottom of the inning with a homer and Alex Nemunaitis added an RBI single later in the inning for the Tigers.

Snyder was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI for Ohio Wesleyan.  Sophomore righthander Jacob Lowery (Lyndhurst/Gilmour Academy) was the starting and losing pitcher for the Bishops
