Beck, Hoy Turn in Season Bests for Women's Track & Field

at Spire Last Chance meet


Sophomore Addie Beck (Wadsworth) and freshman Jera Hoy (Radnor/Buckeye Valley) recorded season bests for Ohio Wesleyan at the Spire Last Chance meet on Monday in Geneva, Ohio.

The meet was not scored.


Beck won the pole vault by clearing 11-5¾.  That height is tied for second in the North Coast Athletic Conference this season.

Hoy finished third in the discus with a mark of 129-0.  That distance ranks fourth in the NCAC this season.


Freshman Katherine Dortmund (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) won 2 events, breaking the tape in the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles in respective times of :12.55 and :16.28.

Dortmund also teamed with freshman Kennedy Elfers (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), sophomore Amarah McPhaul (Muncie, Ind./Daleville), and freshman Aelyn Baumbarger (Marysville) to win the 400-meter relay in :48.07.

Baumbarger won the 200-meter dash in :25.76 and placed second in the 100-meter dash in :12.67.  Elfers was second in the 200-meter dash in :25.90 and third in the 100-meter dash in :12.69.  McPhaul placed third in the 200-meter dash in :27.08 and fourth in the 100-meter dash in :13.05.

Junior Claire Coleman (Cincinnati/Ursuline Academy)
was second in the pole vault with a height of 11-0, and junior Emily Davis (Brimfield/Mogadore Field) finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 128-3.
