Journey Receives Special Award; 4 Bishops All-NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Caity Journey (Nashport/Dresden Tri-Valley) received a special award as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference softball teams, it was announced today by the NCAC.

Journey, a shortstop, was named Newcomer of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice.  Journey is the third Ohio Wesleyan player to receive the conference's Newcomer of the Year award.

Sophomore outfielder Chameron Vanden Eynden (Goshen) also was a first-team All-NCAC selection, while freshman outfielder Sylvie Devore (Dresden/Newark Licking Valley) was a second-team all-conference pick and fifth-year third baseman Alyssa Back (Newark) was a third-team all-league choice.

Journey batted .475 in NCAC play this season and tied for third in the league with 19 hits.  Overall, Journey led the Bishops with a .355 batting average.

Vanden Eynden batted .452 in conference play this season and tied for third in the NCAC with 19 hits.  Overall, Vanden Eynden batted .330.  Vanden Eynden was a first-team All-NCAC selection for the second straight season.

Devore batted .417 in NCAC competition this season.  Overall, Devore batted .367.

Back batted .320 in conference action this season.  Overall, Back batted .317.

Ohio Wesleyan finished with an 11-27 overall record this season.  The Battling Bishops finished in sixth place in the NCAC with a 5-9 record.
