at NCAA Division III championship

Sophomore Connor Smith (Marysville) won second-team All-America honors in the high jump during the second day of the NCAA Division III championship meet, hosted by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Friday at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Smith sailed through the first 2 heights, clearing 6-4¾ and 6-6¾ on the first attempt, but missed all 3 attempts at 6-8¾.  Ten competitors -- nearly half the field -- were eliminated at 6-8¾.

Smith's final height of 6-6¾ was good for a tie for ninth place in the final standings and second-team All-America recognition.  Smith was tied for the No. 8 seed in the high jump with a mark of 6-9½, that coming at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet on May 3.
