at NCAA Division III championship
Freshman Katherine Dortmund (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) won second-team All-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles during the second day of the NCAA Division III outdoor track & field championship meet, hosted by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Friday at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Competing in the first heat of the 100-meter hurdles, Dortmund broke out of the blocks quickly and was at the front of the pack through much of the first half of the race, but Aryianna Garceau of UMass-Boston, this year's NCAA Division III indoor 60-meter hurdles champion, had a strong finish and won the heat in :13.91. Dortmund finished fourth in the heat in :14.26 and did not advance to Saturday's final.
Dortmund finished 13th nationally in the event, receiving second-team All-America recognition. Dortmund entered the meet as the No. 20 seed with a time of :14.19, turning in that time at the All-Ohio championship meet on April 12.
